COSS OLP (Overhead Line Permit)is the qualification to allow the learner to work safely in areas that are supplied with Overhead Line Electrification traction supply. The AC element provides the learner with an understanding of the safe work principles as well as the risks and dangers of working in the vicinity of 25,000V AC overhead lines.Workers without COSS OLP will not be unable to take an isolation certificate to work safely within an Overhead Line isolation.

COSS CRP (Conductor Rail Permit) is the qualification to allow the learner to work safely in areas that are supplied with an energised 3rd Rail traction supply. The DCCR element provides the learner with an understanding of the safe work principles as well as the risks and dangers of working in the vicinity of 650-750 V DC conductor rails.Workers without COSS CRP the COSS will be unable to take an isolation certificate to work safely in a 3rd Rail isolation. (Regions affected: Southern, Mersey, Northern City Lines)
