Brand New to PTS what do I need?

Prior to booking an individual on an initial PTS course, they will have to be issued with a sentinel number and complete a Network Rail approved Medical and Drug & Alcohol test. Once complete, the results are uploaded onto the sentinel system and the individual is now eligible to attend training.
Please Note: We are scheme bound and unable to accept direct payments from an individual learner. Payment must be provided by the Primary Sponsor.

What is OLP and CRP?

COSS OLP (Overhead Line Permit)is the qualification to allow the learner to work safely in areas that are supplied with Overhead Line Electrification traction supply. The AC element provides the learner with an understanding of the safe work principles as well as the risks and dangers of working in the vicinity of 25,000V AC overhead lines.
Workers without COSS OLP will not be unable to take an isolation certificate to work safely within an Overhead Line isolation.

COSS CRP (Conductor Rail Permit) is the qualification to allow the learner to work safely in areas that are supplied with an energised 3rd Rail traction supply. The DCCR element provides the learner with an understanding of the safe work principles as well as the risks and dangers of working in the vicinity of 650-750 V DC conductor rails.
Workers without COSS CRP the COSS will be unable to take an isolation certificate to work safely in a 3rd Rail isolation. (Regions affected: Southern, Mersey, Northern City Lines)

Am I eligible for a recertification

Before booking a learner on a recertification event - It is the duty of the sponsor to check that they have completed 9-15month COSS workplace Assessment, then the mandatory 4 shifts in the previous 24 month period since their last COSS course (initial or recertification).

This work experience can be recorded in either the individuals COSS Work Experience Logbook (Blue Book), endorsed with a Line Manager review at the back of the book. Or, evidence is held within the learners online sentinel history, which can be checked by us replacing the need to bring a blue book.

Please Note: Evidence of work experience is mandatory and photographic evidence of this will be taken by the trainer at the start of the course. learners without suitable evidence will be asked to leave the course. Full charge will be applied.
